Shrimad Bhagabata.

Odia Bhagabata by Jagannath Das.

The Bhagabata Puraṇa, also known as Srimad Bhagabata Maha Puraṇa, Srimad Bhagabata or Bhagabata is one of eighteen great Puranas of Hindus.Originally written in Sanskrit is available in most of the Indian languages. It promotes devotion to Krishna integrating themes from the Advaita(monism) philosophy of Adi Shankara.
Bhagabata Purana discusses a wide range of topics like cosmology, genealogy, geography, mythology, legend, music, dance, yoga and culture.
The illustrious origin of this great treatise goes back to the bank of the holy Ganges where Srimad Bhagabata came out of the lips of Sukadeva in the spiritual fiesta organized by king Parikshita.
The Bhagabata is a bhakti text, with an emphasis on achieving moksha through cultivating a personal relationship with Vishnu in the form of Krishna.
The Bhagabata declares itself the essence of all the Upanishads and derivative Smritis. The Srimad Bhagabata is the very essence of all the Vedanta literature.

The Bhagabata is widely recognized as the best known and most influential of the Puranas. It is sometimes referred to as the "Fifth Veda".Bhagabata is important in Indian religious literature for its emphasis on the practice of devotion. Srimad Bhagabata, undoubtedly, played the vital role in reviving, revitalising and sustaining the righteousness and faith in mankind.

The Odia Shrimad Bhagabata was written by Saint-Poet Jagannath Das(Jagannatha Dasa) who was a poet of high order and dedicated to Lord Jagannath. The Shrimad Bhagabata in Odia had a great influence in the standardizing of the Odia language. Jagannath Das Shrimad Bhagabata in Odisha is being worshiped in many Odisha homes. It had a great influence on social-cultural life of people of Odisha. Villagers in Odisha used to have a small house or room known as Bhagabata Tungi, where villagers would gather to listen to recitations of Jagannath Das’s Shrimad Bhagabata.
Shri Chaitanya conferred the title of 'Atibadi'(meaning Very Great) upon Jagannath Das.

Atibadi Jagannath Das and his contemporaries Achyutananda, Balarama,Sishu Ananta and Yosabanta Dash were the five comrades and pioneers of Bhakti movement is Odisha.

Shrimad Bhagabata by Atibadi Jagannath Das has a great role and relevance in reinvigorating, revolutionizing the life Odisha people and Odia language. There must be few books in the whole of Indian literature that can compare in depth and pervasive influence with the Odia Bhagabata of Jagannatha Das.
